The Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) is an insurance industry supported organization that provides information on insurance subjects to the media, governments, universities, the public, and others. We re-engineered their Know Your Plan App to improve its performance and maintainability.

Our Role:

The original Know Your Plan App—built by a different development company—was not optimized for iOS 7+ and had bugs, broken links, no Android version, and outdated code that made enhancements challenging. We re-engineered the app to fix these issues.

The app provides valuable information to help users get prepared for hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, tornadoes, and other disasters. It includes a variety of preloaded checklists (e.g. Earthquake Prep, Evacuation Prep, Go Bag/Emergency) with I.I.I. provided items for preparation and risk mitigation tasks along with the ability for users to create their own custom lists from scratch. Users can set due dates for each checklist, chart their progress completing tasks, include a note for each task, share their checklists with family and friends, among other features.

We employed Appcelerator Titanium as the development environment to build the app. The main benefit of Appcelerator is that with one codebase we were able to create a cross platform app with a native iOS and Android interface experiences for the end user.
